According to Realty Trac 1,905,723 foreclosure filings, notices of default, auction sale and bank repossession were reported on 1,528,364 homes in the U.S. A 9% increased from the previous 6 months and almost 15% increase for the First six months of 2008.
Solely in the month of June 336,173 U.S. homes had a foreclosure filing on them, even with the moratorium set by the government last year along with local, state and national lesgislative action, there is an increase of loan modifications, This week the Federal Reserve Board had a meeting with all the major lenders, asking them to increase the volume from the actual 200,000 to 500,000 modification this year alone.
In California 391,611 properties received a foreclosures filing in the first half of 2009. A total of 2.94% of the state's housing units (one in 34), making California the fourth highest state foreclosure rate. The increased on this first half was nearly 14% from the previous six months and 15% increase from first half of 2008
